Trip Itinerary

Your Yukon Adventure begins with a flight to Whitehorse, the capital city of Yukon. After collecting your luggage enjoy an informative visit to the Beringia Interpretive Centre before checking in to the Best Western Gold Rush Inn. After freshening up partake in a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

The destination for today is Skagway, Alaska with stops en route at picturesque Emerald Lake and the historic community of Carcross. Ride the legendary White Pass and Yukon Railway, touted as the “Scenic Railway of the World”, from Fraser, BC to Skagway. There is free time in Skagway and a late afternoon departure to Whitehorse with photo stops en route.

Enjoy a spectacular drive north on the Klondike Highway. Stops along the way include the Five Finger Rapids with a late afternoon arrival in Dawson City for a three night stay at the Eldorado Hotel.

Depart for a city coach tour including the Robert Service and Jack London cabins and a tour to Bonanza Creek and the famous Dredge #4. The afternoon is yours to enjoy and explore. Join the group for dinner. There are many activities in this Gold Rush town. Your Ageless Adventures guide will assist you with your plans that may include: Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Gambling Hall, a historical walking tour, or a coach tour to Dome Mountain to view the Midnight Sun.

The adventure continues. Experience the Dempster Highway on a day tour to Tombstone Territorial Park and the Ogilvie-Peel Viewpoint, the most picturesque scenery on the Dempster Highway.

There is free time in Dawson City to explore until a late afternoon flight from Dawson City with Air North to Inuvik, NWT. Upon arrival enjoy a Inuvik town and cultural tour and discover how three main cultures have shaped its growth.

Journey by plane over the Arctic Ocean to Tuktoyaktuk (round trip). This experience is typically the highlight of the tour. The Tuk peninsula has the world’s highest concentration of Pingos* and is a Canadian National Landmark. A local guide will share the Inuvialuit culture with you. Dip your toe into the Arctic Ocean and receive a “Toe Dipping Certificate”. Dinner tonight is at a local Tuk eatery.

*Pingos are ice core hills that can only grow in a permafrost environment and can reach a height of 150 feet. Pingo is an Inuvialuit word for conical hill. A.E. Porsild (the scout for the Reindeer expedition) was first to suggest the scientific use of the word “pingo”. There are an estimated 3,000 pingos in North America with some 1,500 found in the Mackenzie Delta – Tuktoyaktuk. The Inuvialuit & the Canadian Parks Service have recognized the significance of these unique landforms and designated the area a Pingo Canadian Landmark Site.

Visit a husky dog team in the morning and learn about sled dogs of the North. After lunch, enjoy a cruise of the Mackenzie Delta with a local guide.

This morning visit the historic Igloo Church and explore Inuvik before an afternoon flight to Whitehorse. Arrive at the Gold Rush Inn for a three night stay.

Proceed along the Alaska Highway to Kluane Lake located alongside the Kluane National Park. Travel alongside the most breathtaking mountain range, the great Kluane Range, with views of Mt. Logan and Saint Elias. There are photo stops and a visit to the Haines Junction Visitor Centre en route.

Visit and tour the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. View many Yukon species in over 350 acres of natural landscapes. After lunch at a local Whitehorse eatery tour the MacBride Museum of Yukon History which houses the history of the city of Whitehorse, the gold rush, the Mounties, and First Nations. The museum also includes vast geological history and boasts the largest public collection of Yukon gold in the world.
This evening take some time to reflect on your visit to the Yukon and Northwest Territories and enjoy a farewell dinner with your new friends.
