Trip Itinerary
Depart Vancouver with BC Ferries for Nanaimo on beautiful Vancouver Island. After some time in the quaint town of Qualicum journey to the west coast of the island for Tofino which sprawls on a peninsula within Clayoquot Sound, surrounded by wild natural scenery. Arrive at the Wickaninnish Inn which celebrates its rich heritage through attentive hospitality and the spirit of adventure. Perched between the ancient rainforest and the sea, their location offers unparalleled access to the true nature of Vancouver Island’s west coast. Enjoy dinner in the inn’s The Pointe Restaurant, a fine dining experience magnified by the outstanding panoramic view of the sea with a menu focused on seasonal harvests and local ingredients.
This morning is an opportunity to breathe in fresh sea air with a walk on the Wild Pacific trail in nearby Ucluelet. The Wild Pacific Trail carves through old-growth thickets, ferns, and moss of the temperate coastal rainforest as it hugs the wild coastline of the Ucluth Peninsula. Watch the fury of the open Pacific Ocean with spectacular views of the rocky shoreline, Barkley Sound, and the Broken Group Islands from this easy-to-navigate trail. The group will enjoy a well deserved lunch at Heartwood Kitchen before having the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the amenities of the beautiful inn and marvel at the stunning views or join some fellow passengers to explore and have dinner in Tofino.
A morning visit to the Pacific Rim National Park including Long Beach will let you experience firsthand why it is known around the world for its kilometres of long sandy beaches and unspoiled temperate rainforests. The afternoon is free to explore the beach around the resort or enjoy many of the amenities offered. Dinner this evening is included at Shelter Restaurant in Tofino.
Today is all about relaxation and taking in your surroundings. Perhaps that means watching waves crash along the shore from the comfort of your room as the fireplace crackles nearby. Or maybe it’s a refreshing walk along the beach, followed by a hot stone massage or a rejuvenating yoga class at the inn’s Ancient Cedars Spa. Your guide will also be arranging a selection of optional activities for you to enjoy. The group will enjoy a farewell dinner together this evening at the inn’s The Pointe Restaurant.
Depart from the inn for a stop at Coombs Country Market, home of the world famous Goats on the Roof! Have time to explore the market and have lunch or snacks before heading to Departure Bay in Nanaimo for your return to the lower mainland.
