Depart Vancouver on your overnight flight to Scotland, crossing the Atlantic as you begin your journey to a land of rugged mountains, historic castles, and timeless traditions.
Arrival in Edinburgh, Scotland's historic capital and one of Europe's most captivating cities. Settle into a centrally located hotel in the heart of the Old Town, where centuries of history unfold along cobbled streets beneath the shadow of Edinburgh Castle. This evening, gather for a welcome dinner and an introduction to the Scottish adventure ahead.
A day devoted to discovering the rich history and character of Edinburgh. Explore iconic Edinburgh Castle, perched atop an ancient volcanic rock and home to Scotland's Crown Jewels. Enjoy a fascinating Scotch whisky experience and lunch along the famous Royal Mile before free time to wander Edinburgh's historic streets, elegant squares, and lively shopping districts.
Travel to Rosslyn Chapel, one of Scotland's most intriguing and mysterious landmarks. Renowned for its extraordinary stone carvings and centuries of legends, the chapel has fascinated visitors from around the world. The afternoon is yours to further explore Edinburgh or choose from optional sightseeing, including the underground passageways of Mary King's Close or the magnificent Palace of Holyroodhouse, the King's official residence in Scotland.
Leaving Edinburgh behind, travel through the scenic countryside of Fife to historic St Andrews. Overlooking the North Sea, the cathedral ruins stand as a reminder of the town's importance in medieval Scotland. Continue into the Highlands, pausing in the charming Victorian town of Pitlochry before arriving in Inverness, the cultural heart of the Scottish Highlands, beautifully situated along the River Ness.
Today's journey features some of Scotland's most legendary locations. Cruise the deep waters of Loch Ness, keeping watch for the elusive Nessie, and visit the dramatic ruins of Urquhart Castle, perched on the loch's shoreline. Later, visit Culloden Battlefield, where the Jacobite Rising came to its dramatic conclusion, and gain insight into one of the most significant chapters of Scottish history.
Spectacular Highland scenery accompanies today's journey westward. A stop at picture-perfect Eilean Donan Castle, set at the meeting point of three sea lochs, offers one of Scotland's most iconic views. Continue to the enchanting Isle of Skye, famed for its rugged landscapes, dramatic coastline, and timeless beauty. Time is spent exploring colourful Portree and the stunning scenery of the Trotternish Peninsula.
Another day unfolds amidst some of Scotland's most breathtaking landscapes. Discover the natural wonders of Skye, including the famous Old Man of Storr and the dramatic cliffs of Kilt Rock. Sweeping coastal vistas, rugged mountains, and ever changing light make this one of the country's most memorable regions. A ferry crossing returns to the mainland before continuing to Fort William beneath the towering presence of Ben Nevis.
Travel through the magnificent valley of Glencoe, where soaring peaks and dramatic scenery tell stories of Scotland's turbulent past. Continue south to beautiful Loch Lomond, often regarded as one of Scotland's most scenic lochs, and enjoy an opportunity to meet the iconic Highland cattle. Mid afternoon, arrive in Glasgow, a vibrant city known for its rich heritage, impressive architecture, and warm hospitality.
Discover the character and history of Glasgow on a guided walking tour through Merchant City and a visit to Glasgow Cathedral, one of Scotland's finest medieval buildings. Free time allows for independent exploration of the city's museums, galleries, shops, and cafés. This evening, gather for a farewell dinner and celebrate the highlights of an unforgettable Scottish journey.
