Trip Itinerary
Wind northward along the Fraser Canyon and the Gold Rush Trail to Quesnel for your two night stay at the historic Billy Barker Hotel and Casino. There will be coffee stops enroute with lunch at Ashcroft Manor.
Depart from the hotel for a memorable visit to Historic Barkerville, an authentic gold-rush town brought vividly to life. Stroll along its unique streetscape of more than 125 heritage buildings, enjoy live theatre, and meet costumed interpreters who share the stories, humour, and hardships of BC’s early mining days. Discover shops and exhibits that capture the spirit of the 1860s, from saloons serving sarsaparilla to a vintage photo studio, cafés, a bakery, and a remarkably preserved 19th-century Chinatown. Full of charm, character, and colour, Barkerville offers an immersive glimpse into the past. Dinner tonight is on your own.
Travel south on the gold rush trail via Clinton, Cache Creek, and Highways 24 & 97 to Kamloops. Your overnight stay is at the South Thompson Inn, a 4-star riverfront getaway quietly nestled on 55 scenic acres in the Thompson Valley. The Inn is beloved for its southern Kentucky style, western hospitality, and cozy atmosphere. Dinner is served in the inn's restaurant.
This morning depart for a visit to the Turtle Valley Donkey Refuge, a favourite stop for our guests! The refuge provides a safe and permanent home for neglected, abused, or unwanted donkeys. Enjoy some time with these lovely gentle animals. After a stop in Kamloops for lunch travel via scenic Highway 5A through BC’s High Country enroute to your point of origin.
