Trip Itinerary
Travel across the Georgia Strait to Vancouver Island with BC Ferries. Experience a leisurely day as we travel north to Port McNeill, your home for three nights. Dinner is included in the inn’s restaurant.
Depart by ferry for Alert Bay and a guided tour of the U'mista Cultural Centre, which houses one of the finest collections of historical artifacts and elaborately carved cedar masks depicting the Potlatch Ceremony of the Kwakwaka'wakw People. Enjoy traditional dances by the T'sasala Dance Group. Lunch is served locally. Dinner is served at a local restaurant.
Board the Naiad Explorer for the first of two exciting ocean experiences — a cruise through the Broughton Archipelago. Broughton Archipelago is a wilderness area consisting of a maze of several small islands, numerous islets, and adjacent foreshore at the southern extremity of Queen Charlotte Strait. This is an opportunity to see Orcas and other sea mammals and wildlife in their natural habitat. There is a stop at Gilford Island. Dinner is served at a local eatery.
Travel south to Telegraph Cove. The historic Telegraph Cove Resort includes a charming boardwalk with eclectic buildings, gift shops, and restaurants. Telegraph Cove's history as a lumber mill and salmon saltery goes back to the early 20th century. It acquired its name in 1912 when the Superintendent of Telegraphs was shopping for a lineman's station and northern terminus for the telegraph line from Campbell River. Depart for Campbell River with lunch at the Riptide Pub. Travel west through Strathcona Park, Vancouver Island's oldest park, to Gold River for a two night stay at the new Baymont by Wyndham. Dinner is served at a local restaurant.
After breakfast board the M.V. Uchuck III, a working vessel, as it makes its way through Nootka Sound. This one-day marine cruise allows you to experience the day-to-day activities of a working marine vessel first hand as it makes deliveries to logging camps, fishing lodges, and other remote marine outposts throughout Nootka Sound*. The best of West Coast scenery is in store today. Lunch is available for sale onboard the boat. Dinner is included at a local eatery.
Depart Gold River for Qualicum. Take the midafternoon ferry back to the lower mainland.
